The versatile banana leaf, a never ending biproduct of growing bananas, is collected after the plant has produced its fruit. It is then dried, twisted and woven into these coffins together with white rattan to give it an exotic and refined texture. All of these banana products are made in World Fair Trade Organisation accredited workshops.

Pandanus or wild pineapple is the environmentally friendly alternative to seagrass, a plant which grows in warm coastal waters. When coiled and woven, it’s almost indistinguishable from seagrass. Seagrass grows predominantly in shallow waters. It is home to many nursery fish and helps to prevent coastline erosion. Seagrass is therefore an incredibly important plant which needs to be conserved. Pandanus, on the other hand, is a prolific and fast growing plant which is easy to sustain.

Willow is found primarily on moist soil in cold and temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. Almost all willows take root very readily from cuttings taken from the original crown, or even where broken branches are left lying on the ground.
